You're right Zak people will take a gay or a woman but only if they can get the younger people involved. Which isn't going to be easy. The dems has to allow the young a voice even though they don't do things the way they think will work. RETIRE THE OLD FOLK. Let people see you are open to change and people will be onside.

I’m even older but who’s counting. People that hold on to old ways of doing things lose out on life. If they just adapted to the new generations ways, to a degree, they’ll find peace and quiet! We were young once and did our bit, created our change and should know when it’s time to move out of the way or get run over. Yes?

Pete and others going onto right wing shows isn't about converting righties. They're not going on there to preach the virtues of being on the left. We need talented people talking to them to counteract the right's lies. Calling them on their BS. Because the overwhelming opinion over there is well, if no one is challenging it, it must be true. You can look to Trump for an example of this - he can say whatever the heck he wants, and because no one on the right challenges it, the MAGAs believe it.

And for the love of all that's holy, quit bringing up Obama like he's some sort of holy messiah. The campaigns were VERY different in those days. Gen Alpha will have their first opportunities to vote in 2028. They were *barely* born when Obama won. If we continue talking about Obama as our "role model", we're a bunch of out of touch old folks, not authentic to all generations.

What we need to do is look at the newer ways to do the things we've always done, and make the conversions. What Jasmine, AOC, Maxwell, etc. are doing - pairing tours with actions. Speaking up on the floor. Meeting people where they are - on TikTok, on Insta, - as well as the big ra ra rallies. Using SMS and lives for more than fundraising. Local campaigns are using these to great effect, and there's no reason why they wouldn't work on a larger level.

Gavin lost his support because he had the action at first (remember the states against Trump coalition? what happened to that?), and did *nothing* with it (maybe some court cases, but we certainly haven't heard about it in a lot of spaces). Then he had Kirk and Bannon on his podcast and showed us he can't be trusted to take action against enemies.

The reason why we're talking about a huge slate of candidates for 2028 is because we've got folks who ARE taking action as well as talking, and people find that refreshing.

As much as I love Obama, you are so very right. Involving the younger generation is going to be so important. The right is doing that and really, really well. If we don't start doing that we're going to keep losing. The dinosaurs in our government don't get this concept at all and they all need to go.

Me too! His campaign was the first one I ever volunteered for. They tried to follow the same playbook with Kamala though, and it came off very differently. There's so much that didn't exist then. We got a ketp modernizing. That's why this podcast is so important - modern left voices are do missing from modern media.

There's an issue nobody is voicing from these talking heads. As long as you cannot be completely transparent about the genocide in Gaza that we can all see for ourselves is real, then you're not going to get anywhere. The left is full of people who want true honesty and justice for all Of course this is going to be intolerable for the left political leadership to continue to do, and expect us to respect them. Don't be afraid to bring it up for God's sake. You don't have to build anger around it. The horror that we feel is real, but we're not single issue people. There is horror in America too. What we're fighting for is taking care of each other, and not supporting folks who look the other way or pay for the bombs.

It's tempting to think there's one cause for MAGA, but there are many prejudices at work here. Look at the Christian Nationalists and their Project 2025 who seriously want to take away women's rights, and prevent non-Christians from holding public office. So, not ALL white people are the problem, but you're right, racism and white supremacy in the South and the Heartland, in particular, fuels MAGA. On the other hand, white people in New England, California, New York, and the Upper Midwest will keep our country from turning into Hungary.

I think turning people politically is a process, which is why our message needs to be heard in many different venues, and be told by very different voices, and we need to speak with authenticity.

You're correct Don. You aren't going change the hardcore MAGA's but you can work on messaging people who are fence-sitting. It's already happening but only because tRump is behaving so badly. If his intentions are proved to be destroying the American way of life people will respond and listen to dems.

Pete Buttigieg is a yes. Maybe he doesn't convince people watching Fox or Andrew Schultz or other republican platforms to vote for him but he does get them thinking. And hopefully questioning and looking things up. Knowledge is good. Now, some of that audience will just believe the next person who comes onto that podcast pretending like they know what they are talking about.

Bernie Sanders, AOC, Jasmine Crockett, Tim Walz, Pete Buttigieg, Maxwell Frost, Jamie Raskin,Eric Swalwel, and a few more are out there speaking plainly and explaining in simple terms what Democrat policies actually do. How they benefit people. They are pushing back. Now, Newsom would need to use his podcast to challenge and debate certain people to win voters back. It would be a tough road, but if he really wanted the a go at running. He would need to do clean up and show he has the fight.

I think the idea of copying the right in ANYTHING is a huge mistake. Just look at Britain, the Labour Party are supposed to be the party of the working class but they've gone so far to the right that there is no longer a difference between them and the Conservatives. Cutting benefits to the elderly, people with disabilities, backing Israel to the hilt, it's a fucking nightmare. Everyone who voted for them feels totally let down. Start speaking like scum it's not long before you start acting like scum, it's a slippery slope. And who in their right mind associate 'influencers' with authenticity. I think you're clutching at straws and risking looking not just fake but imbecilic.
