That was another good talk. Lisandra you are a perfect addition to this team AND not because you're a woman but because you're a free-thinker like those guys (okay - and female.) I've sometimes wondered how it would work with woman on the team, now I know. Luke, as a young man I find you to be amazingly mature, coherent and a boost to the "old white guys." No insult intended, because you're not old, like me, and though some of you are married you've managed to remain true to yourself. Men have a tendency, shall we say, to changing when married. Maybe they didn't mean to but society puts them down if they don't follow traditional roles. Zak you're somebody that sounds like they are still learning how to manage life and doing an excellent job. Kris you are the epitome of a good man who's been through shit that would break most but have come out the other side with empathy intact. Rich, what can I say about you that won't sound like unadulterated flattery. I wish I'd met a man like you when I was young-er ('-') Tim. Last but definitely first, you contain this group and raise points when needed to keep the conversation on track. You're a great mediator. THE BEST! See you again soon.

Lisandra's "cross necklace" made from different materials from birth control pill packets to light sabers, keeps me giggling for an entire day. I continue to comment that she needs to be on Saturday Night Live. Love your comedy, Lisandra!! Thank you!

Great talk this week.

I wanted to add to the “what sculpted your progressive views” piece.

(Sorry for the length of this)

Unlike many, my parents were rather… conservative… so no progressive role model at all….

I was a tall kid growing up.. in the north hills of Pittsburgh. Polish catholic family. Dad was navy… i was considered a “slow readers” in school.,if you catch my meaning. Teased constantly because I was not like the other boys. I think I self hated because I always knew I was gay…

Unlike my siblings from an early age though I would consider myself somewhat progressive…

Looking back now, I think experiencing the social isolation, especially as a child, and then, education.. led me to becoming much more empathetic to others. Now, as a married confidential gay man, IT Director with an MBA …. I'm practically a radical progressive…

Just a thought

OK, Luke, what term can we use? Are you an “online pundit?” A “news and culture analyst”? A “pugnacious social critic?” I call you whatever you want, just let me know what that is. Give me a noun!

Toxic Masculinity and the Alt-Right Pipeline are absolutely entwined together. It took me until ~2018 but I eventually broke out of both the alt-right pipeline and toxic masculinity behaviors, and I am so glad that I did.

I credit part of it to joining the Fraternity that i chose to join in college who’s core principles are around personal and professional development and treating all women how we would treat our mothers, sisters, girlfriends, etc. We had to completely reframe the image of a Fraternity Man on our campus, because we all know that many fraternities fall short of the ideals that they were founded on. This is the community that I found at a pivotal point in my life.

I also did a lot of work through reading (and listening to the podcast) Man Enough by Justin Baldoni. It’s a f**king shame that Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively are trying to take him down. It absolutely sends a message that if attempt to work on yourself and help others, then you are completely indispensable. Maybe we should focus more on taking down the Andrew Tate’s and Co. that have actually been convicted of misconduct and are completely uninterested in treating women as equals.

Re Luke - I usually love your aggressive on-screen presence... yet you seemed withdrawn and disengaged in this episode. That said, your contributions to the discussion were spot-on.

I noticed that, too. I was pretty put off by it, but then it dawned on me that they were talking about married couples. Obviously, he's not married, but, at times, he looked like he was on his phone, or something, instead of paying attention even though he might not have had anything to say. It won't change the way I feel about him, though. He's a good human.

he needs to stop looking down and spinning around in his chair it's super distracting and he appears disengaged. idk who this kid is but it would help

the pod if he was static and looked at the camera. :-)
