If Trump wins on this bill, we lose - rural hospitals, medicare/medicaid benefits, red states, blue states - we all lose.

Please continue to use your voice to debunk conspiracy theories running rampant online. My feeds are filling with “no voting in 2026” and “martial law”. Fear and hate are how we got here and this misinformation must countered vehemently.

I agree, but at the same time, remember what Rick Moranis said in Spaceballs. "Evil will always triumph over Good, because Good is dumb."

While they may not be able to suspend or even cancel all elections nationwide, we cannot reliably say they're not going to try something.

What have Republicans been promised? Or what does Trump have on them? They think their going to win big and not be held accountable for a reason....

A study from David Hope from London School of Economics and Julian Limberg from King’s College London examined 18 countries in the Global North from 1965 – 2015.

They found that, over this 50 year period, these tax cuts helped no one except the rich. Inequality grew, with no significant effect on jobs or growth. http://eprints.lse.ac.uk/107919/1/Hope_economic_consequences_of_major_tax_cuts_published.pdf

I also think many people I know are unable to cope with the reality of what's happening, so they just tune out. They say they're protecting their mental health. People don't want to feel uncomfortable and they don't realize they are frogs in a boiling pot. Eventually they are going to feel the heat whether they want to or not. These nice, polite, happy people trying to stay in their happy "bubble" enjoying their hot tub bath until it gets too hot. It is maddening to me that I am seeing it all, protesting it all, and trying to educate people, but then I look like the crazy unhappy person because I am paying attention. There's this toxic positivity goal to ignore reality and some of us just can't ignore it.

I think the discussion around tax history was on point. So many of my friends buy into the argument that you can't tax the rich too high or they'll leave or that it's un-American, when that's exactly what we did for decades before the 1980s!

California is SOOOOO different from Florida! Don't even go there, Zak! I'm a Southern California native and I've been to Florida several times. No comparison. End of story.

“Big Brutal Bill” is a powerful phrase — it sounds like a slogan or critique aimed at legislation that’s harmful, oppressive, &/or extreme.

I don't understand why his policies always are enacted (or expire) during other terms. It's as if he is sabotaging our elected officials to look good.

MAGA Murder Bill or Big Bullshit Bill - they need to choose. People will die and they totally bullshited the people on the math and what is in there. The people who voted for this need to be broadcast over and over again before elections. Scream it loud and clear to the roof tops in red areas where they get hosed the most.

This was a great discussion and you hit so many topics that are an issue in my head too. Love the differing opinions because it is mentoring how to disagree but still be on the same side. We’ve lost the ability to differentiate between self circumstances-based issues disagreement and major line-in-the-sand values. You got it so right today.
