This Black woman has been drawn to each of you individually for awhile since last year! You sort of remind me of Mickey Schwerner, Andrew Goodwin, if you part of the “movement” in the 60s. Good stuff! Keep going! Do T-shirts, write books, bring in guests- so needed! Oh and hurry up!
My 22 year old son is a Trump supporter and I’m about to try and get him to listen to you guys. As a young white male I think this might help push him out of that. Don’t worry I’ve been working on him too and all the DOGE actions have been making him a bit uncomfortable.
I just had a very engaging conversation with my 2 16 year old twin nephews and although they are both very much liberal and open minded they still feel like the messaging of the left is a bit too heavy handed w/str8 young male bashing ! Of course this is not true but it’s so important that people other than their liberal parents and liberal gay activist uncle; myself ; are trying to dispel the stereotypes and the right wing narrative attempting to promote this falsehood but I think it’s so important that they can get this message from some like Luke as well as these other guys help us dispell that the left is anti ste8 white males - I promise you we don’t 🥰
It is fascinating to me how many young men are just jumping on the misogyny bandwagon. They see Trump’s brash confidence and bluster, and equate that with strength. That he never asks, he just grabs whatever he wants. They admire that quality, because they hear so much about toxic masculinity, and such conflicting messages. Showing emotions is weak, empathy is weak, they need to show emotions, but not too much. It’s like when women started to get into the workforce more consistently. Women have to be perfect, but not too perfect, fit, but not hard. They are bitches if they say no, and aggressive if they speak up for themselves. These young men are getting just a little itty bitty taste of what women have been dealing with for years.
Young people are angry. They can see how badly they’re getting screwed. They will be living at home for much longer than they expected, because housing and living expenses are out of reach. It’s very difficult to get by these days.
As a liberal feminist, I hope your podcast always stays 6 white guys. I even hope you’re all straight! Cause here’s the thing- so many straight white guys don’t get Empathy modeled for them- which is fundamental to the success of progressive/liberal politics where all people are offered a seat at the table. Just like Black people cannot solve racism, women cannot solve misogyny, gay people cannot solve homophobia, and on and on. White cis/straight men hold ALL the cards, and young American men need empathy modeled for them because too often it isn’t being modeled at home. Patriarchy harms men too, and our world won’t heal until men- especially young white men- come to understand this. The 6 of you are doing fine work! Love the podcast so far! Keep up the good work!
Susannah this is a really powerful comment. Thank you. We are learning as we go, and we are keeping a sharp side-eye on our obvious blind spots. I 100% agree it’s on us to address the behavioral problems with straight white male culture. What we need to figure out how to do in the process, is how to bring diverse voices and personalities onto the platform so we’re helping “train” these guys to recognize that the people the right is telling them are radical freaks are part of this group too, an that the identity wedges the right has established are really just an illusion. It’s a huge task, but we’re determined to get it done!
100% agree, Susannah! Same demographic as you and I am thrilled to see this group come together and speak to the ones who feel left behind. They need role models who aren’t shaming them and who aren’t modeling victimhood either. Great balance here, guys!
Oooh, amen! I’m right there with you. I have a 21 yo son. He is empathic, kind, and tender hearted. And, I worry that the world is going to chew him up and spit him out. I raised him to acknowledge and talk about feelings and emotions. But, so many young men his age are struggling to figure out how they fit in this world, and like you say, there are so few men modeling empathy, respect, and emotional strength. They get bombarded with horrible role models.
I love to see the six of you modeling what it is to be “real” men. Genuine, caring, concerned for the world, and the people on it, and in it. Thank you for your perspective. And, I adore Luke. I love that he does not hold back. He is angry, like many of us.
Like Vic, I’m a white male, live on a ranch, own guns, drive a truck and check every other stereotypical box you can check to be profiled as conservative. I’m liberal AF. Thank you all for giving folks like me an outlet. We’re not gonna get them all, but 3-5% wins elections and that’s when real change happens. Keep up the good work guys!
I love your podcast! But I got to say, it still seems the push by the democratic ‘centralized’ party is rallying around the men (Newsom, Pritzker, Buttigieg) for future leaders. I know this podcast revolves around the male perspective but I would like to see conversations around WHY women are not respected as leaders.
Thank you and that’s a great question and we should discuss in a future episode. But some of our co-hosts think AOC could be the next candidate, so our crew certainly doesn’t think it has to be a man! :)
I actually think AOC would be a great president for the people. I know there is concern about the military - yet there are many highly regarded women in that establishment. As a retired IT professional I am well aware of the ‘male’ take on women in male dominated fields. What I do understand is professional women like me know what we don’t know and are willing to bring in those with the expertise for the job.
I also feel as a 72 year old that it is time for younger people to become the leaders. The democrats who have been in office for 20 years or more need to turn over the baton.
I keep hearing about “Well, AOC doesn’t have military experience”. My response? Trump doesn’t either. She would be a far and away better leader than the shitshow we have in power now. This is a clown show.
I love AOC and think she would do amazing things for the country. However, I 100% don’t want to see her or any woman as the next nominee in 2028 because I don’t think a woman can win right now. There are just too many voters who will never vote a woman. It’s infuriating but it’s reality.
I had a similar feeling. I don’t think it’s personal as our society has propped up a white male patriarchal system for a very long time. And yet, one of the guys said here, when his young daughter is 50, society will be much different, as these old ways are ending. I did kinda feel there’s still an unconscious misogyny that needs to be unpacked inside everyone, and that could help frame why so many think that women won’t get the votes to be “strongman” enough to lead. I think a few of the men here were echoing what they observe in society and not being wishful thinking as how it ought to be. I’d like a deeper dive as to..why not?
This happens in my marriage. I tell my husband that his pain in his back would be taken care of with naproxen sodium and he says no. Then he sees a male nurse who said take some naproxen and my husband says, great idea! Whaaat?!
I like them all for different reasons. They should let these individuals rise themselves by the will of the people. If they push anyone again, we will loose because
people will feel as though the DNC chose for them again. Also, I like the Jasmine Crocket approach vs the niceness of Walz. However, I do like walk as well.
I agree Rachel. I believe all of us are tired of having establishment Democrats (who we know are influenced by billionaire donors too) decide on candidates and then having those candidates shoved down our throats every election season as the “best representative for the party”. We’re stuck in a two-party system that sucks so badly that we really only have one, so adhering to Democratic party strategy and norms isn’t gonna work.
When the Democratic party does this, they fail by:
1) reinforcing the talking points used against the left by Republicans (low-hanging fruit);
2) ignoring the voice of the people; and
3) creating a message of condescension which is highly offensive to not only the very voters they hope to bring into the mix, but also many members of their own party and independent voters who support more liberal policies. I would also add that this could be why female candidates aren’t as successful within the party…
Condescension is bad all around. But, whether we like it or not, in a sociopolitical environment still elevating the gym bro culture/toxic masculinity, condescension from a female candidate is even worse! Step one: stop condescending. Grown men don’t like it and it gives misogynists (from any identity group) the advantage every single time.
The Democratic establishment has to stop trying to suppress the candidates within the party that have their finger directly on the pulse of the country just because the wealthy don’t want to pay higher taxes. From my perspective (CA native who married someone from and has lived in MI), the party needs to stop trying to sell the working class on candidates chosen by the donor class. We can see where that strategy took the Republican Party and we have ZERO interest in it.
Stop pretending we can’t identify donor influence and aren’t repulsed by it when it comes from the left side of the aisle. It’s insulting to ALL voters.
Stop perpetuating lies about why we can’t have better social policy, because we don’t have the money in the budget. We DO have the money…it’s just in the wrong hands! TAX THE WEALTHY! PAY AMERICAN WORKERS!
We want universal healthcare, a livable wage, robust social security, Medicare and Medicaid and Veterans administration. We want an end to Citizens United, term limits on everyone including SCOTUS, and no stock trading for members of Congress. Those are just the minimums, at this point.
Stop using promises to kick the can down the road for big money donors. Find a way to get it done! If you give me a fighter that believes in the above, I’m all in.
I voted for Hilary, so obviously I believe in women as president. But after the rise of Trump and watching people i’ve known my whole life who were not so far right fall for his brand of bullshit I have to rethink about where we are in this country. As i’ve stated in a previous comment, even blue liberalesque California has never elected a woman governor. I have the theory that most males, not even necessarily white males, have an attitude of men as being the stronger emotionally character to handle hard government problems. I don’t believe this is true myself, but I think subconsciously in the general term most men do believe it. Also, there’s the cultural aspect which I wish the podcasters would have touched upon. I know it’s a sensitive subject. Latino males in California gave us Schwarzenneger, who did absolutely nothing, but hey! He was the macho movie star they knew. It’s that kind of thinking is what i’m talking about.
As a white male in his late 30s, I can not thank you guys enough for starting this podcast! I've gotten so tired of being bombarded with alpha male this and beta male that shit on social media. It's in part why I've paired down my social media footprint to just Instagram and podcasts on YouTube. Keep up the great work guys! 👍
74-year-old white southern woman here. I am what they call a “yellow dog Democrat.” You guys are refreshing and intriguing and I’m learning from you.
Here are some topics I hope you will address.
1. Please remember that in order to elect someone other than He Who Will Not Be Named, we must have a free and fair election. That is the crucial front we must fight.
2. Russia. It’s been about Russia since at least 2015.
Vic is right- women have always been more attracted to men who care about their feelings. But the difference is that more and more, women aren’t afraid to be alone. We’re no longer willing to lower our standards just to have a man in our life. And if we give a man a chance, and he discards our feelings, we’re done- whether that’s 2 dates into a relationship, or 2 years. Zero tolerance policy. And that’s what many conservative men are so angry about. They believe they are owed a romantic relationship that tolerates their lack of emotional intelligence, when they’re simply not.
The other key piece here is that women are taking charge of their own fertility. I was talking to an OB a while back, and she told me that she has been doing many more tubal ligations than ever before.
As pretty much everyone else has said, you guys are great! I am so glad you're doing this. Two comments that have nothing to do with content: 1) Tim, I loved your background, and 2) Luke, is that a Lord of the Rings sword behind you?
When my daughter was four we were in a tiny specialty tire shop waiting for the owner to go find the tires. My daughter was bored so my husband started “ballet” dancing with her. The guy returned with the tires just in time for my husband’s ballet leap. My husband who is very masculine owned it and laughed, finishing the dance with my daughter. It did not take from his manhood but added to it, because he wasn’t afraid to be silly with his daughter. His confidence in his manhood showed. It taught her that she is worth being treated special. THAT is being a man.
One more thing- read up on Bob Moses (activist) on Wikipedia. Could you be him? Could you have gone down to Mississippi- in the belly of the beast to defend Civil Rights? Could you be a James Reeb back then? You are asking the right questions! We need you to go further and deeper!
That is quite the compliment. Thank you.
Yes, please 🙏🏼 🫶🏼

Just tell him it’s funny and girls will like him more if he listens to it lol
Lmao. That will get him on board. 😝

Love this! Definitely bring diverse voices on as guests. But there’s no need to apologize for 6 white dudes modeling how to care about humanity.
Most excellent and very exciting! I hope your group is very successful! I am letting all of my friends know about this pod cast and to listen!
100% agree, Susannah! Same demographic as you and I am thrilled to see this group come together and speak to the ones who feel left behind. They need role models who aren’t shaming them and who aren’t modeling victimhood either. Great balance here, guys!

Based on your photo, I’m hoping you’re in Wyoming and we can start a local club of “oh I am shocked you’re not an archetypal maga member…”…
Just a little south in Colorado.
Colorado here, too!
Close enough! We’re in Cheyenne :)
LMAO.

You absolutely have to do the truth sandwich or at least debate it. I assume that you agree with them if you don’t say anything to debunk it

It’s been about Russia since 1987
Now that you remind me, I remember as a child seeing the Sputnik satellite in the night sky!
Hello my sister! Alabama yellow dog here 💙
Glad to see some fellow Alabamians here!!
I would add a 2.a.: And China is lurking

Agree with Luke! The Alpha/Beta BS is just that. A discredit to any further validation one may seek.
Nothing more than a diversion to cover for their own fragility and personal deficiencies.
AOC & Crockett 💪
As pretty much everyone else has said, you guys are great! I am so glad you're doing this. Two comments that have nothing to do with content: 1) Tim, I loved your background, and 2) Luke, is that a Lord of the Rings sword behind you?
It is :) Orcrist the Goblin Cleaver from the Hobbit movies. I have Aragorn’s dagger on my desk too but it’s not in frame.
I think Newsome is just platforming the right without the debunking and causing more harm than good.
