Congressman Pat Ryan (D-NY) Talks Trump, Taxes, and Turning Voters

Welcome to the first Thursday episode of the Find Out Podcast!
Cross-posted by Find Out Podcast
"Prior ever having met with a member of congress I was honestly pretty disillusioned, resentful, and distrustful of our entire government. But now, as a former lobbyist and veterans’ advocate who used to live and work in Washington DC, I’ve had access to a ton of members of congress to have casual discussions where I was able to see their humanity. Over time I've recognized how these personal interactions have given me a lot more faith in government and many of those who serve in it. It was really cool to be able to do the same thing in this new way, and to share that opportunity with listeners and viewers of the Find Out Podcast. If you haven't already, please give this episode a listen. If you like what you hear, be sure to subscribe on Apple Podcasts, Substack, and anywhere else!"

For the first time on Find Out, we’re joined by a sitting member of Congress—Rep. Pat Ryan of New York’s 18th district. Pat breaks down how he held onto a district that went to Trump in 2024 by leaning into direct, local engagement—even in the reddest parts of his community.

We also get into why he calls the Trump tax bill a “shit sandwich,” and what Democrats need to do better when it comes to actually connecting with voters. It’s a sharp, unfiltered look at what real political leadership can still look like.
